סָחַט(b. h. שָׂחַט) to press out, wring, cause to flow. Sabb.XXII, 1 אין סוֹחֲטִיןוכ׳ you must not press fruits (on the Sabbath) for the sake of the juice. Ib. 144b היו סוחטין ברימונים they squeezed pomegranates. Y. ib. X, 10c top הסוֹחֵט והמכבס מלאכהוכ׳ wringing clothes and washing are in the same category of labor. Bets.3a שמא יִסְחוֹט lest he may squeeze (fruit); a. fr.Ḥull.27a א״ת ושָׁחַט אלא וסָחַטוכ׳ read not (Lev. 1:5) vshaḥaṭ (and he shall cut), but vsaḥaṭ (and he shall get the blood out), v. חָטָא I.
